Building on the success from the 2009 partnership, the ISF Skateboarding World Championships will join the Dew Tour’s Skate Open for the second consecutive year, kicking off the 2010 Dew Tour season in Boston, June 26-27, 2010. The event will once again feature the world’s best in skateboard vert and park for both men and women along with a daily Festival Village featuring interactive displays, giveaways, autograph signings, and a live musical performance.
The 2009 Dew Tour Skate Open, ISF Skateboarding World Championships showcased the first ever Skateboarding World Championships in the United States featuring over 140 skaters and 28 countries and took place in Boston, July 24-25, 2009. Over 140 skaters and 28 countries were represented during the world-class skateboard vert and park competition. The competitions drew over 40,000 fans to the event, held in one of the most famous basketball and hockey arenas in the world, Boston’s TD Garden.
During the first-year partnership with the Dew Tour, the ISF Skateboarding World Championships received four hours of LIVE coverage on NBC Sports as well as two hours on USA Network and was simulcast LIVE in primetime to 46 countries and 180 million homes worldwide on Eurosport2 and Fox Sports Australia. An additional 46 hours of coverage was received domestically on MTV2, Fuel TV, and Universal HD.
Brazilian Skate star Sando Dias was quick to respond to the announcement. "I am stoked that the ISF World Championships are going to be back in Boston. This year was really fun and it was cool to see a lot of the international skaters that aren't at all of the events in the US."
